Pokemon GO May 2024 Event Guide

  • Niantic has shared the official May roadmap for Pokemon GO, featuring special research, special raid battles, and more.
  • For May, you can participate in the weekend-long Go Battle Weekend, a five-day special Rivals week, and more.
  • Catching Wonders is bringing over the first Master ball for 2024, and Community Day and Ultra Space Wonders are returning.

To add a variety of flavors to exploration and fun, Pokemon GO introduces multiple events every month. These include raid bosses, field research, and community days. As May edges on, we have the official May 2024 event roadmap. These upcoming events will be hosted as part of the World of Wonders season event. So keep reading as I tell you all about them right here!

All Pokemon GO Events in May 2024

1. GO Battle Weekend

Timings: May 4 at midnight local time – May 5, at 11:59 pm local time

Pokemon GO starts in May with the GO Battle Week. This weekend, you’ll get 4x Stardust rewards per win, and you can play twenty sets per day for a limited time. Also, there will be free battle-themed Timed Research.

2. Rivals Week

Timings: From May 4 at 10:00 am local time – May 9 at 8:00 pm local time

The Rivals Week will also begin simultaneously with GO Battle Weekend as a part of the May roadmap for the game. It will focus on monsters that are rivals with each other, increasing their appearance chances. As such, during this event, you’ll get a chance to find the following Pokemon:


  • Mankey
  • Poliwag
  • Machop
  • Gligar
  • Alaolan Sandshrew
  • Ralts

On three different dates, these Pokemon will appear randomly:


  • May 4 – May 6: Seviper and Zangoose
  • May 6 – May 8: Sawk and Throh
  • May 8 – May 9: Heatmor and Durant

Furthermore, you can gain 10x XP from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms and 2 x Candy Catch. Additionally, the chance of encountering Shiny Zangoose, Seviper, Sawk, Heatmor, Throh, and Durant will increase during the event.

3. Flock Together Research Day

Timings: May 11, 2:00 pm local time – May 11, 5:00 pm local time

Flock Together, as the name suggests, is a bird-focused field research that will appear for a day. During this event, you can encounter shiny variants of Pidgey, Murkrow, Wingull, Starly, Pidove, and Fletchling. Also, you can complete Field Research tasks to encounter more of the featured Pokemon in this event for $1.

4. Catching Wonders

Timings: May 14, 10:00 am local time – May 19, 8:00 pm local time

Catching Wonders is the first event this year bringing back the elusive Master Ball on the May roadmap.

This event will bring event-themed field research and a free Masterwork Research that rewards players with a Master Ball alongside Stardust, XP, Berries, unique Encounters, etc. Furthermore, you can obtain 10 x XP and 5 x Stardust from your first catch of the day and 10 x XP from the first PokeStop and Gym spins.

5. Community Day

Timings: May 19, 2:00 pm local time – May 19, 5:00 pm local time

The Pokemon GO Community Day is returning as part of the May roadmap for the game. While we have the dates and timings, we don’t have exact details yet. However, based on May 2023 Community Day, it should involve shiny encounters, event bonuses, and a special research story for $1. Don’t worry

6. Ultra Space Wonders

Timings: May 23, 10:00 am local time – May 28, 8:00 pm local time

Ultra Space Wonders is returning to Pokemon GO through the May Roadmap. While we don’t have the details yet, the last Ultra Space Wonders introduced the Pokemon Blacephalon and Stakataka in 5-Star Raids. Hence, I expect a similar thing to happen this time around.

7. Incense Day

Timings: May 26, 11:00 am local time – May 26, 5:00 pm local time

Once again, one of the recurring events in-game returns through the May roadmap. Incense Day this year will start on May 26. While Niantic is yet to share the details, the event should involve attracting a feature Pokemon through in-game incense.

8. Pokemon GO May 2024: Spotlight Hours

For May, here are the spotlight hours and the bonuses you will get.


  • May 7: Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee (2x candy for transferring)
  • May 14: Abra (2x XP for evolution)
  • May 21: Elgyem (2x Stardust for catching)
  • May 28: Mareanie (2x XP for catching)

These Pokemon will appear on the given dates from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time. So we advise being prepared.

9. Pokemon GO May 2024 Highlight Raid Hours

May brings a variety for Pokemon GO. Find them all below!


  • May 1: Registeel
  • May 8 and May 15: Tapu Fini
  • May 22: Regirock
  • May 29: Blacephalon for the (Western Hemisphere), Stakataka (Eastern Hemisphere)

These Pokemon will frequently appear during the Raid Hours on the given dates and from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time.

These are what you can expect from the May roadmap in Pokemon GO. Given the scorching heat, some might have trouble playing these events. However, for a roadmap, this looks clean and sufficient.
