Garda have confirmed the discovery of a body in the Waterford mountains after a woman walker disappeared on Sunday.
According to reports, the family of a 37-year-old woman alerted the Garda after they lost contact with her when she was out walking.
She was a mountain runner and experienced hill walker, and itis understood that she left for her walk in the mountains early on Sunday alone.
Her family had been in contact with her a number of times that day but then lost contact yesterday afternoon.
A search began for the Co. Tipperary woman, with volunteers from the South East Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) involved in the search, as well as the R117 coastguard helicopter based in Waterford Airport.
The rescue team took to Twitter to alert other walkers in Nire Vally, Rathgormack, or Mahon Falls to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

Since then, the body of a woman was found in the area and the scene in the Comeragh Mountains in Co Waterford is now preserved.
