Dido once had a very serious brush with death.
In a new interview with the Guardian, the “White Flag” singer talked about a riding accident in South Wales in which she thought she was going to lose her life.
“A horse named Donna nearly killed me,” the 47-year-old recalled. “A friend arranged a riding trip in the Brecon Beacons. I fell off and was on the floor with my legs in the stirrups. After climbing back on, the slope turned steeper and the horse went faster. The saddle slid off and I remember thinking: Right, this is it.”
There is no indication in the originating interview when this incident took place.
In the interview, Dido also talked about the death of her father and how she coped with the loss.
“Losing my dad taught me there’s no way to bypass the grieving process,” she said. “I cried for a long time when he died. There’s a temptation when someone loses a parent to stay away but I really appreciated the texts, calls, and unannounced visits from friends.”
