Drake speaks out after branding Kylie Jenner a 'side piece' in leaked song

Drake has apologised for calling reality star Kylie Jenner a "side piece" in an unreleased track from his back catalogue.

Taking to his Instagram page, the Canadian rapper confirmed that the song was from three years ago and that he had no intention of offending his "friends".

The song also makes reference to Kylie's sister Kendall Jenner and fellow model Gigi Hadid.

In the track, which features rapper Future, Drake, 33, says: "'Yeah, I'm a hater to society, real s***, Kylie Jenner that's a side piece, yeah, I got 20 motherf***in' Kylies."

A "side piece" is a derogatory word for a mistress, most commonly used to describe somebody who is having an affair.

In a statement released on his Instagram page, Drake said: "A song that Mark ran last night on night owl sound live set shouldn't have been played.

"It's a song that leaked 3 years ago and got scrapped shortly after.

"He was going too deep in the Drake/Future catalogue."

He continued: "[The] Last thing I would want to do is wake up having any friends of mine feeling disrespected so I just had to say that to start off the day."

Kylie hasn't directly responded to Drake's claim but instead used the opportunity to share a string of sizzling snaps to her Instagram grid.

The mum-of-one looked sensational as she showcased her figure in a figure-hugging jumpsuit and matching boots.
