After a successful season one, the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning drama series “The Handmaid’s Tale” will return to fans with season two this April.

Following Thursday night’s additional win at the Critics’ Choice Awards, the show, created by Bruce Miller and based on the 1985 novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, has unveiled haunting new photos from the upcoming season.
According to an official press release, the second season will follow the pregnancy of Offred, played by Elisabeth Moss, as she fights to “free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead,” while resisting a “dark truth.”
In addition to Moss, who recently dedicated her Golden Globe award for her role to Atwood, the series also stars Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle and Amanda Brugel.
