Indiependence will not be returning to Mitchelstown come next year

The organisers of the festival will be providing a full refund to all customers

The Indiependence Festival will not be returning to Mitchelstown next year, it has been announced.

In a lengthy statement, the organisers of the annual music and arts festival have said it is with a "heavy heart" that the fifteen-year relationship between INDIE and Mitchelstown is no more.

All customers will be provided with a full refund with the exact details being made available through in the coming days.

The statement reads: We are sad to announce that the fifteen-year relationship between Indiependence and Mitchelstown is at an end and INDIE will not return to Mitchelstown in 2021.

This is a situation we hoped would never arise but we have been left with no other option.

We have taken the decision to protect the ticket holder funds and ensure that everyone is refunded in time for Christmas.

However, it is not an end to the Indiependence Festival in its entirety as the organisers have promised they are looking towards "something new".

The statement adds: We are looking to the future, to something new, unfortunately, we cannot do that in Mitchelstown in the foreseeable future.

Wed like to thank everyone locally who has helped us over the years, the local businesses, Cork County Council, Mitchelstown Fire Brigade, Mitchelstown Garda, David Casey, Pa Hanrahan and everyone else involved including all the local volunteers, too many to mention.
