Irish girl (17) involved in hit-and-run innocent in Wicklow is named locally

A teenage girl who was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Wicklow has been named locally.

17-year-old Tara Houlihan was struck by a car while walking home in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She was found outside Lee's Pub on Kilcoole Main Street in Wicklow, according to the Irish Mirror.

Sources say that she was coming home from a party in Greystones Sailing Club when she was struck. She was later discovered by a passerby who found her lying on the ground.

Emergency services arrived to the scene and brought her to Beaumont Hospital where she is in critical condition.

It is believed that her neck is broke and that she may be brain damaged, according to sources.

At the time, a spokesperson for the gardai said they were ''investigating a suspected hit-and-run road traffic collision.

''A 17-year-old female was seriously injured and has been removed to Beaumont Hospital.

''The stretch of road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators but has since reopened.''

Gardai are seeking information on a light-coloured saloon which may be silver which travelled northbound through Kilcloole village around 3.45am.
