Irish lawyer convicted of assault after racist rant on Air India flight

An Irish lawyer spat at a flight attendant during a racist rant after she was refused alcohol as she flew from India to London.

Simone Burns (50), originally from Belfast and known as Simone OBroin, was initially served three bottles of wine but declared Im a f***ing international lawyer when she was denied more on an Air India flight on November 11, 2018.

She called staff Indian money-grabbing c***s, smoked a cigarette in the toilets and also shouted: Ive done so much for you f***ing Indians and f***ing Pakistanis, you should be grateful to me in the rant.

A cabin supervisor tried to intervene but she was told to f*** off, shown the middle finger and assaulted by Burns, a court heard.

Prosecuting, Lauren Smith said: Ms Burns was right in her face and she felt scared. When she refused to give Ms Burns more alcohol Ms Burns spat in her face.

Burns, of First Avenue, Hove, England pleaded guilty to being drunk on an aircraft and assault by beating yesterday. She will be sentenced on April 4.

Irish lady behaves in such an abusive, racist way with @airindiain crew for being refused extra drinks. Very decent AI crew behaviour. Arrested on landing. Wonder if she should have been controlled onboard with handcuffs. @JitiBhargava @Mohan_Rngnathan pic.twitter.com/kSTDmGOEm5
