Lidl issue product recall for handheld vacuum cleaners sold from September

An urgent recall has been issued because of the risk of fire

Lidl Ireland has issued an urgent recall on all handheld vacuum cleaners sold from September 21 onwards across all of its Irish stores.

The notice affects some 2,204 products sold due to the risk of fire through charging or using the product, as warned by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

A statement from the CCPC reads: "Lidl Ireland GmbH is carrying out a voluntary recall on their SilverCrest Handheld Vacuum Cleaner products.

"The affected SilverCrest Handheld Vacuum Cleaner products were sold in Lidl Ireland stores from 21 September 2020.

"A safety issue has been identified whereby it is possible that there is a risk of fire during charging or use of the product."

Affected products are SilverCrest Handheld vacuum cleaners SHAZ 22.2 D.

The serial number 008602 and model number 339791_1910 can be found from the product's marking plate label.

The statement adds: "Lidl Ireland GmbH will be displaying Point of Sale posters in their stores to inform consumers of this recall.

"If you believe that you have purchased this product then you should stop using it immediately and return the product and the associated battery to a Lidl store where you will be offered a full refund.
