Markle and Prince Harry got married in 2018 and officially became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

They had their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in 2019, and their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, in 2021.

Before Lilibet was born in 2020, the couple surprised everyone by announcing they were leaving their roles as senior royals.

Since Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties, some people have said they should lose their titles.

But they have kept their titles, and now Markle has shown that it is important to her.

In With Love, Meghan, Markle responded to Kaling after she used her old last name several times.

"It's so funny too that you keep saying Meghan Markle," the duchess said in episode two of the show. "You know I'm Sussex now."

Markle said the name became more important to her after she had her two children.

"You have kids and you go, 'No, I should share my name with my children,'" she continued. "I didn't know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, 'This is our family name, our little family name.'"

"As the kids get older, they're so excited about, 'Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?'" the duchess told the publication. "I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now, a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex."
