Melania Trump and Donald 'slept in separate rooms'

Melania and Donald Trump reportedly slept in separate bedrooms while she "checked out" of the presidency in recent weeks, US media has claimed.

The former First Lady is said to have just wanted to "go home" in the final part of her husbands term in office.

She was described by sources as "not sad to be leaving" the White House and Washington and had "checked out", according to CNN.

US President Joe Biden was sworn in on Wednesday, and will share a bedroom in the residence with First Lady Jill Biden will share a bedroom in the residence - unlike the Trumps.

Mrs Trump, 50, spent most of her time in a large bedroom suite, whereas her husband, 74, slept in his own bedroom.

A source toldCNN: "Donald Trump slept in his own bedroom, which was previously a study or den during other administrations."

Meanwhile, Mrs Trump has also been accused of snubbing staff at the White House residence who had cared for her and her family during the last four years.

She did not write her own thank-you notes to the group of around 80 employees, including cooks, butlers and housekeepers, it is claimed.

The workers reportedly believed the messages had been written by her - but a member of staff had actually penned them in style before she signed each note.

It is a long-standing tradition that first ladies leave personal notes or letters of gratitude for the household staff, which are often kept as keepsakes.

Recent weeks saw her keep a low public profile.

Before leaving the White House on Wednesday to head to Florida with her family, she had not been seen in public since December 30.

Former model Mrs Trump was filmed on Wednesday hurriedly leaving her husband to go and sit in the car while he stopped to pose for photographs.

The couple took their final Air Force One flight to his Mar-a-Lago retreat in Palm Beach, Florida, ahead of the inauguration ceremony.

In a clip from the runway, the couple were seen walking down the aircraft stairway together.

While the former Republican President stopped to wave and address a crowd of people, she headed straight into the car without a backwards glance.

Her friends have categorically denied a rumour they will divorce following the end of his presidency.
