Newry family appeal for return of 10-day-old donkey foal stolen from family farm

"Jessica" was taken from the field she was in with her mother on Monday night

A Newry family are appealing for the return of their little 10-day-old donkey foal who was cruelly stolen from the field she was located in with her motheron the Rathfriland Road.

"Jessica" is dependent on her mother for nurture and care given her very young age and Martha is said to be quite distressed according to the donkey's owner.

Speaking to Belfast Live, the owner Amanda also said her two children, eight-year-old Harry and four-year-old Daisy, are equally distressed with the disappearance of the baby donkey.

She said:Were all so shocked and very upset. Jessica was only born 10 days before she was taken from our field.

We have searched every inch of our farm which is all enclosed and shes not here. Her mother is in a terrible state, running in circles and baying in distress. So were worried for her health because she is so distressed and has so much milk and itll make her sick if she cant nurse her baby.

The police have enough evidence to confirm she has been stolen and we are offering a reward for her safe return.

Sergeant Willis of the PSNI added:The foal is just 10 days old and needs support from its mother.

I am urging anyone with any information which may assist with our enquiries to contact police inNewryon 101 quoting reference 2040 of 19/05/20.
