Angelina Jolie Alleges Brad Pitt's Long History Of Physical Abuse Predates The Incident That Led To Their Divorce

The two actors first crossed paths on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, where they portrayed a married couple with covert professions as assassins. Their on-screen chemistry was reportedly undeniable.

Their whirlwind romance blossomed into a 12-year relationship, during which they welcomed six children into their family. Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19, were adopted from Cambodia, Vietnam, and Ethiopia, respectively. They also share biological children Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.

In September 2016, Angelina Jolie, known for her role in Maleficent, initiated divorce proceedings.

Recently, Jolie has come forward with startling accusations against Brad Pitt.

Following an incident aboard a private jet en route from France to LAX on September 14, 2016, involving Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, the FBI intervened, according to BBC reports.

Jolie alleges that Pitt assaulted her and two of their children during the flight, reportedly grabbing her by the head. Additionally, it's claimed that Pitt verbally abused his family and poured alcohol on them during the same flight.

Pitt has refuted the allegations.

After the purported incident, a spokesperson for Angelina Jolie conveyed to People: "Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."

Concurrently, representatives for Brad Pitt also provided a statement to People: "He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed."

"He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He did not do that; he is emphatic about that. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiraling out of control."

In 2022, Jolie first made the accusations regarding the 2016 flight. At that time, Pitt's legal team asserted he was subjected to "every type of personal attack and misrepresentation."

Now, in a recent legal filing, Jolie's attorneys claim that Pitt's abusive behavior "started well before" the widely publicized 2016 airplane incident.

Since their separation, the joint ownership of Château Miraval winery has become a source of contention between the former couple.

Jolie's legal representatives have filed a motion requesting the release of communications they assert would demonstrate Pitt's refusal to permit the actress to sell her stake in the winery unless she agreed to a more restrictive non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

Seeking to compel Pitt and his investment firm Mondo Bongo, which facilitated his acquisition of shares in Château Miraval, to disclose documents related to his alleged insistence on an expanded NDA, Jolie's legal team has approached the court.

According to reports, the documents sought by Jolie's team are deemed "highly relevant" in their argument, as outlined in the filing viewed by the LA Times.

Previously, Pitt had accused Jolie and her investment entity, Nouvel, of clandestinely divesting her interest in the winery to "appropriate profits she had not earned and returns on an investment she did not make."

In a lawsuit filed in February 2022, he contended that his investment in the venture surpassed Jolie's by nearly $50 million.

Jolie's cross-complaint argued that there was no agreement between her and Pitt regarding mutual consent for the sale of their respective shares in the winery.

According to Jolie's legal team, they assert that Pitt's alleged history of physical abuse towards Jolie predates the family's September 2016 plane journey from France to Los Angeles.

Although other purported incidents have been mentioned, specific details have not been provided.

In a recent filing, it's stated that Jolie chose not to pursue legal action over the alleged altercation on the plane because she believed it was best for Pitt to take responsibility and assist the family in recovering from the trauma, as reported by The Telegraph.

Furthermore, in Jolie's recent legal submissions, her lawyers have accused Pitt of relentless attempts to exert control and financially deplete her, as well as of trying to conceal his alleged history of abuse, manipulation, and cover-ups.

A court document submitted by Jolie's legal team, obtained by USA Today, states: "This flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him."

The document alleges: "When Jolie filed the evidence in the custody suit, she was careful to file it under seal so that no member of the public could see it."

"But Jolie's sealed filing, which included emails, summaries of the family's expected testimony, and other evidence, caused Pitt to fear that the information could eventually become public."

An alleged source close to Pitt tells the Mirror: "This is a pattern of behavior – whenever there is a decision that goes against the other side they consistently choose to introduce misleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant information as a distraction.
