Her Son's Unique Hair 'Breaks Rules', Making It Hard To Find A School

We often encounter tales of children facing obstacles preventing them from attending school, for various reasons. Whether due to personal choices or other factors, it's concerning when the school system isn't accommodating.

Enter eight-year-old Farouk James from London. Born to a Caucasian mother and a Ghanaian father, his mother chose not to cut his hair until he turned three, as a way to honor his father's cultural wishes.

Speaking with Good Morning America, she revealed they initially intended to cut his hair at three, but they didn't anticipate its persistent growth.

James embraces his curly hair, describing it as unique, and has decided never to cut it—an arrangement fully supported by his mother. However, despite their stance, the school system doesn't share their view.

Miller has been on the hunt for schools, but the strict regulations of the one she's considering dictate that James' hairstyle isn't allowed.

One of the schools enforces a policy prohibiting dreadlocks and other extreme hairstyles, specifying a maximum hair length above the collar and requiring a minimum of a number two cut.

Meanwhile, another school permits long hair for girls but mandates short hair for boys.
