Dragon’s Dogma 2 True Ending: How to Unlock and Complete

  • To unlock the Unmoored World, use the Godsbane Blade near the Dragon's heart while riding him to the fight location during the Legacy quest.
  • Evacuate all the major cities in the Unmoored World and defeat all the cursed dragons in the red beams spread all around.
  • Initiate the last red beam in the Seafloor Shrine and stab the Dragon's heart to reach the True Ending.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has multiple endings with the secret ending having an additional 20-30 hours of gameplay. The secret ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2, also known as the True Ending or New World ending, takes players to a post-apocalyptic setting of the open world called the Unmoored World, with most of the enemies being replaced with their elite counterparts. This new world has multiple new quests, bosses, and enemies. Finishing all the quests in the Unmoored World leads to the True Ending of the game. Here is a complete guide on how to unlock and complete the True Ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Unlocking the Unmoored World is pretty simple in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and players can do it in their first playthrough. However, it requires you to reach the Legacy quest, the final mission to confront the Dragon and have the Empowered Godsbane Blade in the inventory.

Hit the Dragon when it gives you the choice between running and fighting the Dragon. This will start an interactive cinematic scene, where the player will be riding the Dragon as he takes you to the battle arena. Here you need to move to the underside of the Dragon, where his heart will start throbbing. Unlock Unmoored World Dragons Dogma 2Image Courtesy: In-game Screenshot Captured by Sanmay Chakrabarti

Open the Inventory and use the Empowered Godsbane Blade near the heart. Stab yourself with the Godsbane Blade, and it will cause both the Arisen and the Dragon to fall into the Brine. Here the Pathfinder will show its true identity and reveal that it was controlling all the incidents in the game. After that, the Brine will absorb the world and change it into an Unmoored version.

Note:

If you have defeated the Dragon and instead in the end cutscene, you can still redo the Dragon fight by either talking to the Pathfinder repeatedly around the throne room, or loading your last Inn save.

After you have unlocked the Unmoored World, the Arisen will appear near the Seafloor Shrine and your main Pawn will not be in your team. Now you will have two new quests, one to retrieve your pawn, and another to reach the Seafloor Shrine. First, head to the Seafloor Shrine to unlock the Portcrystal there.

After reaching the Portcrystal in the Seafloor Shrine, talk to Rothais to start the main quest for the True Ending. After you talk with Rothais, you will get a quest to evacuate all the major cities in the World — Bakbattahl, Vernworth, Sacred Arbor, Excavation Site, and Volcanic Island Camp, from Luz the Oracle. You will also find the Dragonforged nearby and can trade end-level gear from him using Wyrm Crystals, which can be found plenty by defeating the main bosses and drakes in the Unmoored world.

Now, you need to talk to all the major rulers in the world and urge them to evacuate their people. The game will automatically unlock every Portcrystal on the map, whether you have unlocked them or not, and allow you to fast travel to them.

Ox Carts no longer run in the Unmoored World, so you only have Portcrystals for Fast Travelling. If you run short on Ferry Stones, defeat the new mobs in the Unmoored World. The new mobs can drop Ferry Stones now.

Note:
The Unmoored World will slowly destroy parts of the world if you take too long to finish the quests. Also, the only way to save is to sleep in Inns, which also reduces the time left in the Unmoored World.

The first quest you need to complete is A Scholarly Pursuit, which will return your main Pawn.

  • Head to Bakbattah and enter the Forbidden Magick Lab. Talk to Phaseus, located on the second-floor room, to get your Pawn back.
  • Now head back to the outside of the Flamebearer Palace, where you will see a red light.
  • A dragon statue will fall from the sky and prevent your entry to the Palace. Make your way to the Dragon relic, and it will retaliate by summoning enemies and using the brine to stop you from reaching it.
  • Now, you will have to enter the Flamebearer Palace from the Forbidden Magick Lab. Follow the unblocked roads to reach the Resident Area exit. Phaseus will travel with you so follow him if in doubt to reach the Forbidden Magick Lab. You can avoid wasting time defeating the summoned enemies as they don’t drop XP.
  • Enter the Forbidden Magick Lab and go through the upward-spiraling path to reach the Flamebearer Palace. Hit the Dragon relic to destroy it.

Teleport to the red light and use the Godsbane blade to begin the cutscene. Here you will go through an interactive cinematic sequence and end with stabbing the heart of the Dragon to reach the True Ending. Completing the True Ending will give the Closure achievement.
