When Lana Rhoades was at the height of her popularity, she was a very popular figure in the adult film industry. However, she experienced a less obvious 'dark side' to her fame that wasn't well known to the outside world.

She described the 'humiliating' scenes she felt pressured into participating in and admitted to her 'naive' perspective of the industry prior to joining it.
"This is going to show how naive I was but when I first got into porn I didn't know I'd have to have sex," she revealed.
"It didn't register or process. I really didn't think about the acts I was going to have to do to be a porn star."
Originally, Lana expressed to her agents her preference for participating only in girl-on-girl scenes. However, they informed her that she wouldn't find work unless she also agreed to perform in boy/girl scenes.
After agreeing with reluctance, she observed that her managers started to schedule her for more and more extreme content to increase their profits.
"They would glamourize doing more for less money because it would make more for them," Lana shared.

"There's just really crazy stuff going on that damages people's bodies for the rest of their lives."
Although Lana was not physically harmed, the experiences had a negative impact on her mental health, leading her to pursue therapy.
Reflecting on some of the most distressing scenes she encountered, the 27-year-old mentioned:
"There were 3-5 that were really traumatic for me - whether it's being sent to a set with someone who was way too old, or being pressured into doing something that I was scared of doing because it was too extreme, that can definitely be very traumatic. I would say that's the 100% contributor to why I left the industry."
