Olivia Rodrigo makes Irish chart history with 'Drivers License'

American Actor and singer, Olivia Rodrigo has today made Official Irish Chart history just one week after the release of her debut single 'Drivers License'.

Olivia entered the charts last week at number one in numerous countries across the globe, and this week the 17-year-old has landed in the Irish chart history books for the highest number of streams.

The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) released the figures today that show Drivers License scoring the biggest week of streams in Official Irish Charts history.

The Disney+ actor's single has so far racked up 2.006 million in the past seven days, based on Official Charts Company data.

Rodrigo takes the record from Ariana Grande, whose 7 Rings previously claimed the title, having notched up 1.6 million plays in its first week of release in January 2019.

Official Chart stats also show that Drivers Licenseis the first debut single to enter the Official Irish Singles Chart at Number 1 since ZaynsPillowtalk back in February 2016, and the first by a female artist since Ella Hendersons Ghostin June 2014.

Olivia is now the youngest woman to top the Official Irish Singles Chart since Lorde stormed to Number 1 with Royalsin 2013 at the age of 16.

Meanwhile, she also claimed a second Top 50 entry this week with All I Want in at Number 40 from the High School Musical series she stars in.
