Ronan Finn says Shamrock Rovers are gunning for a Double

Shamrock Rovers captain Ronan Finn has said that the Hoops are going full steam ahead towards a Double.

The Tallaght side captured their record-18th League of Ireland crown at the weekend.

And now, a retention of their FAI Cup from last year is in the crosshairs.

Speaking to the Rovers website, Finn said:

''You dont want to become a group that drops their standards.

''Well enjoy training on Monday, well have a bit of craic and all that but when it comes to Wednesday and were back to business, the standards within the group are that you dont want to suddenly switch off and start dropping silly points.

''We still have a Cup to retain, its our Cup and we dont want to just give it up.''

Finn, who returned to the club from Dundalk has said the league win has come after years of work.

I think weve got to keep pushing on, you cant stand still. If the manager feels he can strengthen again Im sure hell do so.

''Weve been steadily building to get to this point and you want to keep progressing. That hunger is within the group and weve got to keep setting higher and higher targets.

''Weve got European football next year to look forward to and who knows what that could bring. Right now as a football club the future is looking very bright but youve got to keep working hard.

''Well keep doing what were doing and if the opportunity comes to strengthen Im sure we will because you cant stand still in this game.

''Youve got to keep looking forward.

The club will receive the league trophy after Wednesdays home game v Derry City.

Kick off is at 6pm and the game is live on RT2 and
