Vogue is highlighting some of the most talented women from around the world.
The April 2019 “Global Talent” issue of Vogue features Scarlett Johansson on the cover, along with South Korean actress Doona Bae and Indian star Deepika Padukone.
The stars discuss the importance of representation and the increasing roles for women in media and on-screen.
“It’s a conversation that Hollywood has never had before,” Johansson says. “It feels like we’re all kind of catching up.”
A second cover features French actress Lea Seydoux, Chinese social media star Angelababy, Aussie actress Elizabeth Debicki and Nigerian actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington.
Speaking specifically about the post-#MeToo environment in Hollywood, Debicki says, “A space has opened up, and people are saying what they want. Women talk to one another more about collaborating. There is, in a way there hasn’t been before, a sense of connective tissue.”
Also featured in the issue are Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, Italian Alba Rohrwacher, Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez, Icelandic actress Hera Hilmar, the U.K.’s Vanessa Kirby, Brazil’s Bruna Marquezine and German star Liv Lisa Fries.
