Reports state that the 19-year-old was running away from a vicious attack by three men chasing him with knives.

Police were called to the View Avenue apartment complex in Surfers Paradise in Brisbane at around 3:15 am on Saturday after they received reports that a body was found outside the building.

Mr. English was allegedly found by a passer-by who noticed his body on the pavement and contacted emergency services.

Paramedics performed CPR but were unable to revive him.

Three men aged 18, 20, and 22 have been charged with one count of murder and armed robbery.

Cians family who emigrated from Carlow town 5 years ago released a statement saying they are devastated by this tragedy and respectfully ask for privacy as this police investigation continues.

Police have said the three men, Jason Knowles, Lachlan Soper-Lagas, and Hayden Kratzman were attempting to rob Mr. English and his friend of his phone and some clothing when they attempted to escape over the balcony.

"They were both viciously assaulted and, as I say, the robberies occurred at knifepoint," Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said.

The three will appear in court in Brisbane magistrates on Monday morning.
