Two men arrested after €140,000 of cannabis seized in Dublin

Some 100,000 of cannabis was seized in Clondalkin on Saturday, leading to a follow-up search in Ballyfermot

Two men in their 20s have been arrested after 140,000 of cannabis was seized in Dublin.

On Saturday evening, shortly after 5pm, a vehicle was stopped by gardai in Clondalkin.

A search was conducted of the vehicle when gardai detected a smell of cannabis.

As a result, 100,000 of cannabis herd was seized.

This was followed up by another search of a premises in the Ballyfermot area, leading to 40,000 of cannabis and a small quantity of suspected cocaine being seized.

A garda spokesperson said: "Two men, both in their 20s were arrested as a result. They are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin Garda station.

"Investigations ongoing."
