Two men charged after over €7m worth of cannabis seized at Dublin Port


A third man has been released without charge


On Friday, Revenue Customs officers and members of An Garda Sochna attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) conducted a joint operation which resulted in the seizure of 352 kilogrammes of herbal cannabis with an estimated value in excess of 7 million.


The illegal drugs arrived in a container from Spain through Dublin Port.


Three men were arrested in connection with the seizure and according to An Garda Siochana, two men have since been charged while one man has been released without charge.


A garda spokesperson said: Two men have been charged in connection with the seizure of herbal cannabis in excess of 7 million by Revenue Customs Officers and Garda attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) on Friday, 23rd October, 2020.


The two men (aged 47 and 49) are expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, District Court Number 2, on Monday, 26th October, 2020, at 10:30am.
