Borat is back.
Amazon has premiered the official trailer for Sacha Baron Cohens comedy sequel, officially titled Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, which is set to land on the streaming site onOctober 23.
The film picks up with Cohens Kazakh journalist Borat following the blockbuster success of the 2006 movie as he returns to America with his daughter hoping to gift her to someone close to the throne (aka with ties to Donald Trumps White House).
The original Borat was a box office hit in 2006, grossing over $260 million worldwide. Cohen won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, and the film went on to land an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 79th Academy Awards.
Cohen quietly developed a sequel to the comedy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Deadlinereportedin September that Cohen risked his life on multiple occasions to film the new comedy, including wearing a bulletproof vest on at least two full days of filming.
As to be expected, the sequel will see Borat get into some awkward situations, including interrupting a Mike Pence speech in a Trump mask and staying with shacking up for the night with a pair of Republicans who teach him about the COVID-19 virus.
