With the M4 iPad Pro now available, we've had a chance to discover several hidden features and other secrets Apple kept from us after the announcement of its most powerful tablet to date. Whether you're still on the fence about buying one or you've already picked yours up, these are six hidden features you should know about.
Charging limit: Like the iPhone 15 lineup, the new M4 iPad Pro has a hidden battery health feature. In the Settings app, you need to go to Battery > Battery Health and switch to 80% Limit to prolong your battery's lifespan.
Durability: While the M4 iPad Pro looks fragile because of how thin it is, that doesn't necessarily mean it will bend easily. Several YouTubers have tested its durability, and MobileReviewsEh found that the new iPad Pro is as tough as the M2 iPad Pro despite being 18-20% thinner.
Battery Cycle count: In addition to the new charging limit feature, the M4 iPad Pro also offers a Battery Cycle count. This helps you understand your device's battery condition. It's available under Settings > Battery > Battery Health > Maximum Capacity.
Old Magic Keyboard works with the new iPad: This is a bit tricky. Threads user Jane Wong revealed that if you align the connectors correctly, it's possible to use the old Magic Keyboard with the new iPad Pro (and the old iPad Pro with the new Magic Keyboard). However, we recommend buying the correct version for your tablet for the best compatibility.
Smart Folio case upgrades: Thanks to more magnets on the iPad, the Smart Folio comes with "a wider range of viewing angles," so users can get the perfect angle while using the tablet with this case.
Magic Keyboard is lighter: One of the main issues with the Magic Keyboard + iPad Pro combo was that both devices combined were heavier than a MacBook. Now, Apple has reduced the weight of both the M4 iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard. This detail was revealed by journalists who received the new Magic Keyboard before Apple started selling it. According to them, the 13-inch model weighed around 658 to 667 grams. Adding that to the M4 iPad Pro, the combo weighs in at around 1.24 kg, the same as the 13-inch MacBook Air.
