On Sunday, October 15th, Alicia Keys, Grandmaster Flash, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis will be honored by the Black American Music Association at the inaugural ICE Medal of Honor celebration.
Alicia Keys will receive the Ella Fitzgerald Gold Standard Award for her outstanding contributions to music. Grandmaster Flash, a hip-hop pioneer, will receive the Transformative Award. In addition, songwriter/producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will receive the Creative Impact Award for their immense influence on the industry.
Each talented artist has had a lasting impact on the music industry, with careers spanning at least two decades. Their awards will symbolize the immense contributions they have made throughout their careers.
A Special Tribute
In addition to Keys, Grandmaster Flash, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis, other esteemed individuals will also be honored at the event.
Billionaire entrepreneur Robert F. Smith will receive the Ray Charles/ Harry Belafonte Patron of Arts Award, while former Motown Productions president Suzanne de Passe will be presented with the Suzanne de Passe Trailblazer Award. Jeff Harleston, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs of Universal Music Group will receive the Pace/ Harrell Executive Leadership Award.
During the ceremony, there will also be a special tribute to the late music legend, Michael Jackson, with the Michael Jackson Icon Award presentation.
Recognition
Alicia Keys has notably amassed an impressive collection of accolades throughout her career, with 15 Grammy Awards. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have also been recognized for their immense talent, winning five Grammy Awards. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five made history by becoming the first hip-hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
The ICE Medal of Honor celebration aims to recognize these exceptional artists and their contributions to the music world. It is a testament to their lasting impact and influence on the industry.
