Aloha! Disney’s beloved cheeky monster and his pals are back in the first trailer for the live action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch.
Helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the film will bring to life the 2003 animated film originally directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. The film follows the unlikely bond that develops when Lilo, a lonely orphaned little girl from Hawaii, meets a mischievous koala-like alien she ends up calling Stitch. It stars newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo and Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Lilo’s big sister Nani, with OG Lilo & Stitch creator Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch. Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, and Courtney B. Vance also co-star.
The trailer promises the same fun and mayhem that made the original a hit. It revives some of the most memorable bits from the cartoon, including Stitch’s dramatic escape from his home planet and Lilo’s “Ohana means family” line. As the integral backdrop of the whole story, the trailer also showcases Hawaii and its culture. Lilo & Stitch will hit cinemas on May 23, 2025 Stateside.
