After two years, Taylor Swift’s globe-spanning, record-breaking The Eras Tour finally came to a close. On Sunday, the 35-year-old singer made her final bow in Karma’s sparkly outfits one last time during Night 3 of the tour’s Vancouver stop. Before exiting the BC Stadium stage, Swift took the time to celebrate the tour’s unprecedented run by declaring it “the most beloved chapter of my life.”
“I’ve never done this many shows,” the singer-songwriter extraordinaire said. “But you guys have made it such a wonderful experience.”
Swift then proceeded to hug each of the backup dancers who had accompanied her on the whirlwind journey across 5 continents and 51 cities. These people, along with the entire crew who made the shows happen, were treated to bonuses worth $197 million on top of their salaries.
Underlining its success, the pop diva’s camp later released the final figure of the tour. Off of the 149 shows the singer’s done across 21 months, The Eras Tour has grossed a whopping $2 billion, officially making it the highest grossing tour in history by a wide margin. Per Forbes, it doubled the previous record of $1 billion set by Coldplay’s 156-date Music of the Spheres World Tour in August. Swift’s company further reported that the tour sold 10,168,008 tickets, with an average of $204 per ticket. The highest attendance ever recorded was in Melbourne’s MCG show with 96,000 tickets sold. The 2-billion figure hasn’t even counted earnings reaped through merchandise sales, highest-grossing concert film, and the just released Eras Tour book, which – like everything the singer touches – swiftly became the biggest publishing launch of 2024.
